UBC PA program
There are encouraging rumours that UBC may be able to soon (2012 or 13) offer a 2-year MSc PA program.
I can almost guarantee that the UBC PA program WILL take place. The curriculum has been approved by the Ministry. The last message that I had was that the first class would sit this fall (2012).
Lisa, 1. Sorry to take so long to respond 2. I am deeply disappointed that the UBC PA program seems to have stalled and that (obviously) a 2012 class will not be sitting. I will do my best to contact those who are involved in setting it up to get an update and I will definitely post new information to this blog. Again, I'm really sorry to keep you waiting on a response for so terribly long.
Among the first PAs in Canada, I began my career in Ottawa in the early '70s, at The Ottawa Hospital. I made the move west in May, 2005.
I have long recognised the need for education, certification and regulation of Canadian PAs and am very positive about the bright future of PAs in this country.
I was privileged in 2004 to receive the nomination from The Ottawa Hospital for the 2004 CAP Technologist of the Year award and received two nominations for PA of the Year in 2008 (an award given annually by the Canadian Association of Pathologists).
I have had the additional privilege to have been involved in the publication of numerous articles; collaborating with a number of Pathologists and clinicians over the years; currently having my name on over sixty publications.
Any updates on this? How likely is this to happen?
